Jordanian Communist Party condemns the terrorist massacre and mourns Central Committee member comrade Marwan al-Khaitan

The Jordanian Communist Party condemned the terrorist massacre at a church in the village of Hammoud near Karak, which resulted in the deaths of 7 people, including Central Committee member Marwan al-Khaitan, and called for revealing its circumstances and prosecuting its perpetrators.

The Jordanian Communist Party, in a statement issued by its Political Bureau, condemned the terrorist massacre that occurred on Friday afternoon, October 23, 2026, at the St. George Orthodox Church in the village of Hammoud near Karak, during a funeral ceremony, resulting in the deaths of 7 people and numerous injuries. The party mourned comrade Marwan al-Khaitan, a member of its Central Committee, who was among the victims. The statement described the crime as "heinous" committed by "obscurantist takfiris," considering it targets Jordanian national unity and represents "a blatant assault on equal citizenship." The party called for revealing the circumstances of the crime and prosecuting its perpetrators, and saw that confronting it requires a "democratic civil state." The statement indicated that the crime "is not isolated from the fingers of Zionist forces" that aim to subject Jordan to "Israeli conditions." The party called on national forces to unite efforts against extremism and sectarianism.
