Central Elections Committee chairman orders Likud to remove misleading billboards

Central Elections Committee chairman Noam Sohlberg ruled that Likud must remove Arabic-language billboards designed in the colors of the Yashar party and publish a clarification in Hebrew. The judge determined that the billboards could mislead voters regarding the political affiliations of opposition parties.

Deputy Supreme Court President and Central Elections Committee chairman Noam Sohlberg ruled that the Likud party must remove misleading billboards. The posters, designed in the colors of Gadi Eisenkot's Yashar party, feature opposition leaders Gadi Eisenkot, Yair Golan, Naftali Bennett, and Avigdor Lieberman alongside Mansour Abbas and Ahmad Tibi in Arabic. The judge found that the color scheme and content create a risk of misrepresenting Yashar's political ties with other lists. Likud is required to publish a clarification in Hebrew two hours after the end of Shabbat stating that it is the campaign organizer, and to dismantle the billboards as soon as possible. The ruling also states that Likud must use its own resources if necessary. The article recalls a similar case from the 2013 elections, when Likud itself complained about misleading advertising.
