An investigative report reveals the promotion of tourist trips for Israelis inside Jordan, including some who served in the occupation army, raising questions about oversight of the tourism sector and the limits of professional responsibility, amid parliamentary and popular demands for clarification of measures taken during the war on Gaza.
An investigative report conducted by "Hosni FM" radio and published on September 21, 2026, tracked over two months the activity in electronic groups in Hebrew, and monitored offers for tourist trips for Israelis inside Jordan, including Petra, Aqaba, and Wadi Rum, along with reception, transportation, accommodation, and escort services. The report examined cases of individuals who posted videos and posts indicating their service in the occupation army, then documented visits to Jordan during 2025 and 2026, including some whose posts included references to military service in the Gaza Strip. In response to a parliamentary question from MP Bassam Al-Rawabdeh, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Imad Al-Hajazin confirmed that the ministry had not received complaints or reports regarding providing facilities to occupation settlers, and no violations or penalties were recorded. The response indicated that the ministry addressed the Jordanian Tour Guides Association on July 26, 2026, to prepare a code of conduct, but a review of the attached letter shows it requested a copy of the "approved professional code of conduct," raising questions about the actual status of the code. MP Al-Rawabdeh held the Ministry of Tourism responsible and stressed continued follow-up until the practices are stopped and officials are held accountable. The coordinator of the "Be Ashamed, Boycott" campaign, Montaser Wossous, called for setting a clear standard to prevent turning the tourism sector into a space for normalization.
