The bereaved father Itzik Bonzel sharply attacked Gadi Eisenkot following the possibility of forming a government relying on the Arab parties. Bonzel, who said his son was among the fallen to whom Eisenkot declared he wanted to be worthy, addressed him directly: "Whoever cooperates and intends to rely on supporters of terror and glorifiers of martyrs is not worthy of the fallen, not worthy of my son." Bonzel also attacked the gap between election declarations and subsequent political conduct, and President Isaac Herzog, who he said received "the gift of his life" by giving Eisenkot the mandate to form the government, bypassing Netanyahu whose party won the largest number of seats. Bonzel mocked Eisenkot's claim of support from 74 recommenders, saying: "A prime minister who doesn't know how to count seats – come on, really."
