Italian police arrested a 22-year-old man in the greater Milan area on suspicion of planning terrorist attacks targeting a mosque and a synagogue. A special unit that carried out the arrest found evidence linking the suspect to individuals who are anti-Islam and deny the Holocaust, and who are supporters of white supremacy. The man surveyed a mosque in the suburbs of Milan and a synagogue in northern Italy as part of the planning for the attacks. The detainee also acquired knowledge of how to make explosive devices, weapons, and chemical or biological materials, and preliminary findings indicate he intended to carry out the attacks alone. During the arrest, forces seized a 12-page document, likely intended for publication after carrying out one of the attacks, which stated: "It's time for someone to do something... I feel like a soldier, and I know my war has already begun, even if I am still organizing it. But I will succeed, believe me."
