Constitution, Law and Justice Committee chairman MK Simcha Rothman addressed the Yonatan Urich affair, also known as Qatargate, in an interview with radio station 103FM. Rothman was asked specifically about Urich's conduct and replied that he is not familiar with the investigation material and cannot replace the judicial system, which he said is not doing its job. He nevertheless stressed that "it is forbidden to be a Trojan horse." Rothman sharply attacked Israel's relations with Qatar, defined it as an "enemy state," and pledged he would never set foot there, even if he received an invitation similar to the one Mossad and Shin Bet chiefs previously received to watch the World Cup in a VIP box. He broadly criticized right-wing figures who maintained ties with Qatar, arguing it was a "blind spot" affecting large parts of Israeli society, including members of the change government, the hostages' headquarters and right-wing figures. According to him, it was a mistake also made in the past by the American right.
