Israel's Foreign Ministry issued an advisory on Friday urging Israelis in France or planning to visit to exercise heightened caution, following violent demonstrations and riots on October 17. The ministry highlighted October 24 and November 5 as dates of concern, advising Israelis to avoid all demonstrations and large gatherings. Luxury stores in France boarded windows and increased security ahead of fresh protests on Saturday, with some planning to stay closed after rioters looted shops across the country last weekend. Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez said 70,000 police officers would be deployed. Student union UNEF and the Yellow Vest group plan to march through central Paris to protest high living costs and cuts to public services.
