Two Iranian experts believe that a Democratic Party majority in both houses of the US Congress in the midterm elections raises the political cost of any new military attacks that US President Donald Trump might launch against Iran, but they did not rule out the possibility of a limited military operation. This came in assessments provided by the head of the Center for International Diplomacy and Secretary-General of the Iranian Political Science Students Union, Mohammad Ali Seyed Naei, and the expert in international relations and American affairs, Mohammad Rasouli, to Anadolu. Seyed Naei said that Trump losing the majority in Congress will increase the political cost of any new military attack on Iran, but it will not eliminate the possibility of another attack. He added that a limited military operation is still possible, but continuing a large-scale and long-term war would be more difficult and costly for Trump. He pointed out that the intensification of the US military presence, the deployment of naval vessels, and logistical preparations indicate that the military option is still seriously on the table, but that does not mean a decision to launch an attack has been made.
