Iran signals to US: Strait of Hormuz may open within six days

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that Tehran's proposal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz within six days remains valid, contingent on the removal of the US blockade on Iranian ports, the lifting of oil sanctions, and the cessation of regional hostilities. Washington insists on including Iran's nuclear program in negotiations.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that Tehran's proposal to the US to reopen the Strait of Hormuz within six days remains valid, subject to its conditions. These conditions include the removal of the US blockade on Iranian ports, the lifting of sanctions on oil exports, and the cessation of hostilities on all regional fronts. Araghchi, who is in Baghdad for the Organization of Islamic Cooperation conference, clarified that Iran has not withdrawn its proposal but doubts the sincerity of US intentions. The proposal was first submitted in mid-September after the collapse of a temporary ceasefire. Meanwhile, Washington insists on including Iran's nuclear program at the start of negotiations. US Vice President JD Vance clarified that Iran would be required to significantly reduce its uranium enrichment capabilities to end the eight-month war. The gaps between the sides remain.
