Including fleeing from police: England national team goalkeeper convicted and will face trial
England and Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford pleaded guilty in court to reckless driving after blocking two vehicles, ignoring a right-of-way sign, and fleeing from police at excessive speed in the town of Knutsford. The goalkeeper will appear in December to request a lenient sentence.
England national team and Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford pleaded guilty in court to driving with recklessness and lack of care. The incident occurred in the town of Knutsford in Cheshire, after Pickford drove his luxury car, a Lamborghini Urus worth around £200,000, and ignored a right-of-way sign at a junction. As a result of his escape and failure to yield, two other drivers were forced to brake suddenly to avoid a head-on collision. According to court documents, a police officer on patrol spotted Pickford bursting into the junction, nearly causing a collision, and then accelerating at excessive speed. The officer activated the siren and lights and began chasing the sports car, but noticed that even at a speed of about 80 km/h, Pickford's Lamborghini continued to pull away from him—in an area where the speed limit is only about 48 km/h. The goalkeeper slowed down and pulled over only after realizing the police car was following him. Pickford, who has so far made 92 appearances for the England national team and played for them in the last 2026 World Cup, chose to plead guilty in writing. Alongside the plea, the 32-year-old goalkeeper requested to appear in person at the sentencing hearing scheduled for December to present his mitigating circumstances and try to reduce his punishment.
