Maj. D., brother of late Maj. Binyamin Shorale, was appointed this evening (Thursday) as commander of Battalion 13 in the Golani Brigade, as part of the IDF's rotation round. The appointment is expected to promote him to the rank of Lt. Col. D. continues his military path more than 12 years after Binyamin fell in battle in Rafah during Operation Protective Edge, on August 1, 2014, along with Lt. Hadar Goldin and Staff Sgt. Liel Gidoni. Binyamin was 26 years old, about three weeks before his wedding to his fiancée Gali. In an interview with "Hayom" shortly after the fall, D. said that the loss strengthens him to continue serving as a combat soldier. Now, more than a decade later, he is set to command one of the brigade's regular battalions.
