IDF to thin forces in Gaza envelope communities after the elections: dozens of reservists will be released

The IDF will thin its forces in the Gaza envelope communities immediately after the elections. Dozens of reservists will be released, and defense in the more distant communities will be based on security coordinators and rapid response teams. The decision was made by the Operations Division, and Gaza envelope residents are demanding answers and transparency.

The IDF will thin its forces in the Gaza envelope communities immediately after the elections, as reported this morning (Monday) on the "Haboker Haze" program on Kan News. As a result of the move, dozens of reservists will be released, some of whom are currently stationed in communities located up to 4 km from the Gaza Strip. Starting Thursday, October 29, two days after the elections, reservists will be deployed only in communities located up to 4 km from the Strip's border. In the more distant communities in the envelope, the IDF will significantly thin its forces, and defense there will be based on security coordinators and rapid response teams, without a permanent military presence. The decision was made by the Operations Division. Security officials in the envelope say that in communities near the border, residents will be recruited to the reserves as part of the regional defense, and when needed, reinforcement of attached soldiers will arrive. However, the IDF is trying to reduce the phenomenon of attached soldiers and is limiting reserve days, and therefore in the envelope there are fears that the defense will not be sufficient. Gaza envelope residents were not properly updated about the change, and they are demanding answers and transparency from the Southern Command.
