"I've already mapped out the rooftops around": Young man from Kansas planned to assassinate Trump - and was arrested

Jaden Reed, a 24-year-old from Kansas, was arrested after posting threats against President Trump's life on social media ahead of a campaign rally in the area. In one post, he wrote: "I've already mapped out the rooftops around."

Law enforcement in the United States arrested a 24-year-old from Kansas, Jaden Reed, after he posted a series of threats against the life of U.S. President Donald Trump on social media. Reed was arrested over the weekend at his home in the town of Clearwater, located about a half-hour drive from Wichita, where a Trump campaign rally was held on Monday. According to the U.S. Department of Justice, the arrest was made after anonymous information was received about threatening comments left on the Facebook page of a local television station. In one comment, Reed wrote: "Let's shoot Trump, honestly, where is our shooter? I'm tired of living this money life." Immediately after, he added: "I just bought 308 and 305 ammunition, and I'm going to kill that pedophile." Investigators found additional threats in comments on a story from another local news station, where Reed hinted that he had conducted a preliminary reconnaissance of the area: "I know where your speech will be. I've already mapped out the rooftops around." Kansas District Attorney Ryan Kriegshauser made clear that political violence and threats of violence will not be tolerated. Reed remains in federal custody.
