How to vote in elections for a person with a disability: here are the rules
The publication "Vesti" has translated the voting rules for people with disabilities into Russian, as the Israeli Central Elections Committee for the second time in a row does not publish information in the languages of repatriates. The conditions for voting at accessible polling stations, rules for accompaniment, and restrictions are explained.
For the second consecutive elections, the website of the Israeli Central Elections Committee lacks information in the languages of repatriates — Russian, Amharic, and French. The publication "Vesti" has taken upon itself the translation of key voting rules for people with disabilities. People with limited mobility can vote at special accessible polling stations, information about which can be found on the CEC website. An accompanying person without a disability votes at their regular polling station. Assistance behind the screen is only permitted in cases of physical inability to perform the procedure (for example, the blind, people with amputated arms) and only with the voter's consent. Ignorance of Hebrew or cognitive impairments are not considered grounds for accompaniment. The accompanying person cannot be an employee of the institution where the voter is located and can assist no more than two voters. In disputed cases, the secretary of the election committee makes the decision. The article announces three important questions missing from the CEC website in Russian but does not disclose them.
