The tragedy of October 7, 2023 remains an important factor for 68% of Jewish voters. Among Jews, security (39%) and economic (38%) issues top the list. 56% of Israelis consider it likely that the losing side will refuse to accept the results.

Less than three weeks before the Knesset elections, a poll by the Israel Democracy Institute (IDI) shows that Israelis are divided and approach voting with low optimism. The tragedy of October 7, 2023 remains an important factor for 68% of Jewish voters, while among Arab citizens this figure is roughly half. Among Jewish voters, security and foreign policy issues top the list (39%), nearly as many cited the economy and cost of living (38%). Next are military conscription (27%), religion and state relations (26%), and leader personality (23%). In Arab society, the main factor remains fighting crime (53.5%), with the economy in second place (46%). 56% of Israelis consider it likely that the losing side will refuse to accept the election results and attempt to change them by force. Optimism regarding democracy and societal unity has reached a low since the beginning of 2026.
