Houthis: Targeting the Ras Tanura refinery, the largest oil refinery in Saudi Arabia, with a ballistic missile
The Houthis announced on Tuesday that they targeted the Ras Tanura refinery, the largest oil refinery in Saudi Arabia, with a ballistic missile, causing a fire. Saudi authorities have not confirmed the attack, while Bloomberg reported that Riyadh extinguished a fire near the facility.
The Houthi group, Ansar Allah, announced on Tuesday that it launched a ballistic missile attack on the Ras Tanura refinery, the largest oil refinery in Saudi Arabia, located on the Gulf. The group's military spokesman, Yahya Saree, said in a statement that the attack caused a fire at the site, which also contains a shipping port. Saudi authorities have not confirmed the attack. Bloomberg News, citing a knowledgeable source, reported that Saudi Arabia managed to extinguish a fire that broke out near the Ras Tanura oil facility in the early hours of the day. Nearly all Saudi oil exports flow through the Ras Tanura and Yanbu ports, both of which have been previously attacked by the Houthis. The Houthis have been launching ballistic missile and drone attacks on Saudi airports, ports, and oil facilities in recent weeks. Civil defense authorities issued an air raid warning in Riyadh. The Saudi-led coalition said it intercepted two ballistic missiles fired toward Riyadh. The fighting has led to the collapse of the UN-brokered 2022 truce.
