Houthis: Ras Tanura refinery, Saudi Arabia's largest oil refinery, targeted with a ballistic missile

The Houthis announced on Tuesday that they targeted the Ras Tanura refinery, Saudi Arabia's largest oil refinery, with a ballistic missile, causing a fire to break out. Saudi authorities did not confirm the attack, while Bloomberg reported that Riyadh extinguished a fire near the facility.

The Ansar Allah Houthi group announced on Tuesday that it carried out a ballistic missile attack on the Ras Tanura refinery, Saudi Arabia's largest oil refinery, located on the Gulf. The group's military spokesman, Yahya Saree, said in a statement that the attack caused a fire at the site, which also contains a shipping port. Saudi authorities did not confirm the attack. Bloomberg News quoted an informed source as saying that Saudi Arabia managed to extinguish a fire that broke out near the oil facility in Ras Tanura in the early hours of the day. Nearly all Saudi oil exports flow through the ports of Ras Tanura and Yanbu, both of which the Houthis have attacked before. The Houthis have persistently carried out ballistic missile and drone attacks on Saudi airports, ports and oil facilities in recent weeks. Civil Defense authorities issued a warning of airstrikes in Riyadh. The Saudi-led coalition said it intercepted two ballistic missiles launched toward Riyadh. The fighting led to the collapse of the UN-mediated truce in 2022.
