Houthis launch new strikes – Saudi Arabia makes statement

The Saudi-led coalition announced that Houthi rebels attacked an electrical distribution station in Medina with a drone, which supplies power to the Prophet's Mosque. One transformer was damaged, but there were no major outages. The Houthis denied the allegations.

The Saudi-led coalition accused Yemen's Houthi rebels of a new attack on the kingdom's territory. According to the coalition, on Tuesday a drone struck an electrical distribution station in Medina that supplies power to the Prophet's Mosque, one of Islam's holiest sites. The attack damaged one transformer, but there were no major power outages. The coalition stated that an investigation and analysis of drone debris confirmed Houthi involvement. A Houthi representative denied the accusations, calling them false and aimed at hiding a lack of evidence regarding a previous accusation of an attempted attack on Mecca. Earlier, Saudi authorities reported intercepting a drone south of Mecca. Saudi Arabia believes the strike on the facility in Medina is part of a series of Houthi attempts to attack Islam's two holiest sites.
