Hezbollah cell thwarted in Syria: "Attempted to deploy missile launchers"

Syrian internal security forces arrested a Hezbollah cell that attempted to deploy missile launchers in southwestern Syria, near the border with Israel. The operation was carried out as part of a proactive security and intelligence operation targeting hostile activity in the Yarmouk Basin area. Three Hezbollah operatives were arrested, and the missile launchers were dismantled.

Syrian internal security forces, in coordination with the General Intelligence Directorate, arrested a Hezbollah cell that attempted to deploy missile launchers in southwestern Syria, in the Yarmouk Basin area of Daraa, near the border with Israel. The operation was part of a proactive security campaign targeting hostile activity. Three Hezbollah operatives were arrested, and their full identities were not disclosed—only their initials were released. The missile launchers were dismantled, and the investigation continues ahead of transferring the detainees to judicial authorities. Since coming to power, Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa's regime has been acting against Hezbollah activity, which is associated with the regime of Bashar al-Assad. In July, a reported attempt to smuggle advanced weapons from Hezbollah through the Iraq border was thwarted. About two weeks ago, Syria announced the capture of a Hezbollah terror cell in western Damascus province, which included rocket launchers, Grad rockets, anti-tank missiles, and ammunition. In February, another terror cell was captured that was involved in attacks on Damascus using rockets and drones originating from Hezbollah. In the latter two cases, Hezbollah denied any connection to the incidents.
