An alert over an unidentified object crossing from Lebanon was activated on Friday evening in the village of Arab al-Aramshe. Large forces, including helicopters, were scrambled for extensive ground and air searches. The IDF cannot determine whether an item indeed crossed into Israeli territory, but the Northern Command said checkpoints are being deployed and that they are doing everything required to rule out hostile activity.

An alert over a suspected infiltration of an unidentified object from Lebanon was activated this evening (Saturday) in the village of Arab al-Aramshe in the Western Galilee. Large IDF forces were scrambled for extensive ground and air searches, including helicopters that were launched, and noise was clearly heard in the area. At this stage the IDF cannot determine whether any item indeed crossed the border, but as a precautionary step forces were rushed to a long list of communities: Adamit, Arab al-Aramshe, Ya'ara, Goren, Hanita, Shlomi, Gesher HaZiv, Sa'ar, Kabri, Avdon, Betzet, Liman, Nahariya, Evron, Ben Ami, Matzuva and Rosh HaNikra. The Northern Command said checkpoints are being deployed at several junctions without physical blocking at this stage, alongside ground and air searches. There are no special instructions for residents and civilian routine continues, but the forces are scanning extensively with many means. The incident takes place against the background of ongoing security tension on the northern border.
