He pushed his cousin 42 kilometers - and then came the most moving moment of all
Nick Morrison pushed his cousin Toby, who is battling Huntington's disease, for 42 kilometers in the Melbourne Marathon. Just before the finish line, Morrison stopped, helped Toby out of the wheelchair, and carried him across the line in his arms so that both could cross together and Toby could do it on his feet.
Nick Morrison decided to fulfill a dream for his cousin Toby, a 21-year-old battling Huntington's disease, and took him to the Melbourne Marathon. Morrison pushed Toby in a wheelchair for all 42 kilometers, as the two joined over 20,000 participants. Their family cheered them on along the way. The highlight came in the final meters: Morrison stopped just before the finish line, helped Toby out of the chair, and carried him across the line in his arms. He explained that he wanted both of them to cross together, and for his cousin to be able to cross the finish line on his feet. Morrison described the last 100 meters as an experience that gives him chills every time he remembers it. He called Toby the true inspiration and said he is grateful for the ability to do this together with him and make the most of life.
