In an interview with Radio North 104.5FM, Danny Ayalon, former Deputy Foreign Minister, warns of a deep crisis in US-Israel relations, just before Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's trip to Washington. Ayalon argues that the fact that no meeting was coordinated between Netanyahu and President Trump is "the most serious thing" and indicates a lack of political credit for the government. He says, "To say the least, Trump is very disappointed with Netanyahu. The result is that he simply doesn't count him." Ayalon notes that Trump invited Nihad Mamdani, chairman of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), to the White House, knowing his hostile attitude toward Netanyahu. Ayalon warns that the damage to Israel's status crosses political camps in the US, both Republicans and Democrats, and harms national security. He criticizes the government's policy in Gaza, claiming there is no "major assault on Hamas" and that 75% of the organization's manpower remains as it was before October 7. However, he welcomes the new US sanctions against Iran but assesses that the major move is still ahead.
