Hatzalah to dispatch drone rescue team to aid search for missing Israeli tourist on Mount Olympus

United Hatzalah is dispatching a drone search-and-rescue team to Greece to assist in locating Ami Yogev, a 46-year-old Israeli tourist who went missing on Mount Olympus on September 20. The drone unit, equipped with thermal imaging and illumination, will operate with local Greek forces, focusing on hard-to-reach areas. Yogev's family lost contact after he sent a photo from the trail. The Foreign Ministry is also providing assistance.

Yogev set out for a hike on Sunday, September 20, and his family lost contact with him shortly after. The last contact was a photo he sent to his mother from the second stop on the trail. Hatzalah was asked to assist by Yogev's family and will operate with local Greek forces, focusing on sites difficult to reach on foot. The drone unit is equipped with thermal imaging, illumination, and loudspeakers, and the accompanying team carries satellite communications, radios, emergency gear, and medical supplies. Hatzalah has also launched a "My Mitzvah" fundraising campaign for the operation. Yogev's brother Shlomi is currently in Greece assisting in the search. The Foreign Ministry stated that the Israeli Consul in Athens and the Department for Israelis Abroad are in contact with local authorities to provide assistance.
