About a thousand pro-Palestinian protesters, some carrying Hamas flags, masks, and green ribbons, marched yesterday (Saturday, October 10, 2026) through central Amsterdam, as part of a national demonstration at Dam Square. The march started at Dam Square and passed through five additional locations in the city. The protesters chanted "Amsterdam is saying no to genocide" and "Free Palestine." Police confiscated a sign depicting a caricature of politicians Dilan Yeşilgöz and Lidwien de Vos looking in a mirror and seeing Adolf Hitler. This was the second protest that day; it was preceded by a silent march by Amnesty International with about 250 participants. The protest capped a week of protest actions across the Netherlands. Among the protesters' demands: imposing stricter sanctions on Israeli companies and institutions. Right-wing leader Geert Wilders responded harshly: "The far-left mayor and the anti-Israeli prime minister are silent. The Jew-haters control the country."
