"Hamas": Closing the Ibrahimi Mosque to worshippers is a blatant assault on its sanctity

Hamas condemns the Israeli occupation's closure of the Ibrahimi Mosque in Hebron to worshippers under the pretext of Jewish holidays, opening it to settlers for Talmudic rituals, describing it as a blatant assault on its sanctity and Islamic identity.

The Islamic Resistance Movement "Hamas" condemned on Monday the Israeli occupation authorities' closure of the Ibrahimi Mosque in Hebron to worshippers under the pretext of Jewish holidays, while opening it to settlers for Talmudic rituals and Judaization activities. The movement stated in a press release that closing the mosque to worshippers and opening it to settlers constitutes "a blatant assault on its sanctity and identity," and comes within the context of a systematic policy targeting Islamic holy sites and seeking to impose new and dangerous Judaization facts. Hamas warned against the continued targeting of Islamic holy sites, foremost among them the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Ibrahimi Mosque, calling on the Arab League, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and influential powers in the Arab and Islamic worlds to take urgent action to stop these measures, protect holy sites, and guarantee Muslims' right to access them and perform their rituals. It emphasized that the occupation's attempts to target Islamic and Christian holy sites and impose a new reality upon them will not succeed in changing their identity, stressing the Palestinian people's adherence to their land, holy sites, and right to self-determination. The closure of the Ibrahimi Mosque to worshippers comes amid repeated Israeli measures imposing restrictions on access to the mosque, coinciding with Jewish holidays, alongside Palestinian warnings about the repercussions of these policies on freedom of worship and the identity of holy sites in Hebron.
