"Hager - Land" is the big winner of the Haifa International Film Festival

Shmuel Beru's film "Hager - Land," which deals with the fate of Ethiopian Jews, won the Best Film award in the Israeli competition of the 42nd Haifa Film Festival. The judges noted its cinematic cohesion. The film also won an artistic achievement award for cinematography. Acting awards were given to Yaakov Zada Daniel and Noa Ohayon.

Director Shmuel Beru's film "Hager - Land" is the big winner of the 42nd Haifa International Film Festival. The jury of the Israeli competition, which included Anat Atzmon, Sharig Packer, Hila Medalia, Yael Shuv, and George Ovashvili, awarded the film the Best Film prize, noting the cinematic cohesion of the work dealing with the fate of Ethiopian Jews. The film also won an artistic achievement award, given to the cinematography team. The jury prize for a feature film was awarded to two films: "Double Panther" by Marco Carmel and Yoav Shoten-Goshen, and "Blue Signs" by Dina Zvi Riklis. Yaakov Zada Daniel won the Best Actor award for his role in "Double Panther," and Noa Ohayon won the Best Actress award for her role in "Blue Signs." Dina Zvi Riklis also won the screenplay award for this film. The Amit Feld Award for a debut film was given to Reut Akerman for "Home!" The Best Documentary award was given to Tomer Heymann for "I Want to Tell My Story." An honorable mention named after Pinina Blair was awarded to the late director Nitzan Gilady for "And You Shall Love." In the international "Carmel" competition, the film "Lost Queen" by Lance Hammer won, and in the "Golden Anchor" competition, the Chinese film "Unknown Girl" won. The festival is artistically directed by Yaron Shamir.
