Gaza Waqf condemns Ben Gvir's storming of the Western Wall and performance of Talmudic rituals

The Ministry of Awqaf and Religious Affairs in Gaza condemned the storming of the Western Wall by Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir and his performance of Talmudic rituals with settlers, considering it a violation of the sanctity of the Al-Aqsa Mosque.

The Ministry of Awqaf and Religious Affairs in Gaza condemned, on Saturday, the storming of the Western Wall, west of the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, by Israeli occupation government National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir, and his performance of Talmudic rituals accompanied by groups of settlers during the past night. The ministry said in a statement that these practices represent a blatant violation of the sanctity of Islamic holy sites and an assault on the Al-Aqsa Mosque, warning of attempts to impose a new Judaizing reality on its courtyards and historical landmarks. It affirmed that the Al-Aqsa Mosque will remain a purely Islamic mosque, rejecting any attempts to divide it or change its identity, and called on the international community and human rights institutions to assume their responsibilities in stopping the repeated attacks on holy sites and protecting them. The ministry stressed that the Al-Aqsa Mosque represents a religious and civilizational symbol for the Islamic nation, affirming the continued defense of its holy sites by the Palestinian people. This step comes amid escalating settler incursions into the Al-Aqsa Mosque and intensified performance of Talmudic rituals in its vicinity, coinciding with the period of Jewish holidays.
