Gaza Municipality presents vision for developing the Yarmouk Cultural and Sports Complex

The Gaza Municipality, in partnership with the Engineers Association, held a workshop to present an initial vision for developing the Yarmouk Cultural and Sports Complex as part of the city center development plan. The plan includes developing the municipal park and Yarmouk Stadium, establishing a sports and cultural center and a prosthetics center, rebuilding the Abu Khadra Mosque, and creating a museum documenting Gaza's memory during the war.

The Gaza Municipality held a workshop on Tuesday in partnership with the Engineers Association to present the initial vision for developing the Yarmouk Cultural and Sports Complex, as part of the Gaza City center development plan. Engineers, academics, and representatives from government, civil, and youth institutions participated in the workshop. The workshop presented a vision for developing the complex, which spans approximately 120 dunams, with more than half of its area allocated to green spaces and public areas, while preserving the historical and sports identity of the site. The plan includes developing the Gaza Municipal Park and Yarmouk Stadium, establishing a sports and cultural center and a prosthetics center, along with rebuilding the Abu Khadra Mosque, developing a promenade connecting Omar al-Mukhtar and al-Wahda streets, and the possibility of creating a municipal garage beneath the stadium. It also includes establishing a museum documenting Gaza's memory and what it endured during the war, while repurposing Yarmouk Stadium as a multi-use space. Participants emphasized the importance of involving local residents, youth, and universities in the upcoming design stages, studying traffic impact, providing parking, and enhancing green spaces and renewable energy.
