Gadi Eisenkot in an interview with Kan News: If we don't reach 60 seats, we'll swear in a minority government
Yashar chairman Gadi Eisenkot said in an interview with Kan News that if his bloc does not reach 60 seats, he will swear in a government even with 58 or 59 seats, and immediately expand it with Zionist state-minded votes. He emphasized that he will not seek the support of Arab parties, and claimed that no Arab or Haredi party accepts the four principles he set. Eisenkot estimated that his bloc will reach 61 to 63 seats, and responded to Netanyahu's claims against him.
Yashar chairman Gadi Eisenkot said this evening (Wednesday, October 14, 2026) in an interview with Kan News that if his bloc does not reach 60 seats, he will swear in a government even without an absolute majority. "If we don't reach 60, I will, under the circumstances, go to swear in a government, even with 58, 59, we will form this government and try to immediately expand it with Zionist state-minded votes," he said. Eisenkot emphasized that he will not seek the support of the Arab parties, and claimed that no Arab party, and unfortunately not even a Haredi one, accepts the four principles he set: the destruction of Hamas, enlistment in the IDF, the Declaration of Independence, and Israel as a Jewish, democratic, and liberal state. He estimated that his bloc will reach 61 to 63 seats, and said that he will not allow Netanyahu to go to additional elections in a transitional government. Eisenkot responded to Netanyahu's claims against him, including the opposition to the pager operation, the desire to stop the war before Rafah, and the response to the Iranian attack. He called for publishing the results of the vote on the conquest of Rafah in the war cabinet, and claimed that all six ministers voted in favor. Regarding Netanyahu's claim that choosing Yashar means a Palestinian state, Eisenkot replied that he has opposed the establishment of a Palestinian state throughout the entire period, and attacked Netanyahu for a hysterical scare campaign. He also defended his ability to deal with President Trump.
