Dan Shapiro, former US ambassador to Israel under the Obama administration, said in an interview with ynet that Israel must present 'new faces' to halt the deterioration of its standing in the US. According to him, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is 'toxic' in the eyes of Democrats and identified with the war in Iran, which has caused high costs that Americans hate. Shapiro referred to the results of the US midterm elections, in which Democrats secured victory in both the House and the Senate, allowing them to limit President Trump's actions. He said the annual security aid of $3.8 billion is expected to end, and Israel must get used to it. Shapiro called for the establishment of a new government led by a different person, a change in policy in Judea and Samaria, a fight against settler violence, a halt to settlement expansion, and advancing the Trump plan for Gaza. He emphasized that the majority in the Democratic Party still supports Israel's security, but without aid and under new conditions.
