For the fourth time in a month: vandalism against Reform synagogue in Jerusalem

Vandals attacked the Reform synagogue "Kol HaNeshama" in Jerusalem for the fourth time in a month. The incidents occurred on the eve and during Yom Kippur: a window was broken, a net and an LGBT flag were torn down. Head of the Reform Movement Anna Kislanski accuses authorities of incitement and demands protection.

For the fourth time in a month, vandals attacked the Reform synagogue "Kol HaNeshama" in the Baka neighborhood of Jerusalem. The latest incident occurred on the eve of the Yom Kippur fast, September 20: a perpetrator threw a glass object into the building, shattering in the prayer hall, and tore down a net in the men's restroom. The next day, September 21, after prayers, unknown individuals tore down an LGBT flag mounted on the building. Police arrested one suspect. This is the second time the LGBT flag has been torn down from this synagogue. Previous incidents include a broken window in the prayer hall on August 16 and egg-throwing at congregants on the second day of Rosh Hashanah, September 13. Complaints have been filed with the police for all cases, and surveillance camera footage has been submitted. Anna Kislanski, Director General of the Reform Movement in Israel, stated that the violence is fueled by systematic incitement against Reform Jews, including by elected officials. She called on the police to protect the communities and bring the perpetrators to justice, emphasizing that the synagogues will remain open.
