The IDF has launched a large-scale operation to collect weapons, ammunition, and military equipment illegally held in civilian homes across the country. The operation, conducted in cooperation with law enforcement and the judicial system, grants full immunity to those who return items and allows for completely anonymous drop-offs without questions or identification at various collection points. Since the beginning of last week, 63 dedicated stations have been set up from north to south, open daily from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM. As of now, over 60 weapons have been returned, including MAG machine guns and weapons that went missing from army warehouses, along with more than 1,000 ammunition items including fragmentation grenades, gas grenades, and explosives. In addition, thousands of textile items, communication devices, classified documents, medical equipment, and advanced optical accessories have been collected. A source in the IDF Logistics Corps emphasized that the main goal is to prevent real life-threatening risks to families who keep weapons in their homes under poor storage conditions, as well as the fact that holding military weapons is a serious criminal offense. This operation is the first of its kind in about a decade.
