Following "The Inspector" investigation: Police open inquiry into conduct of Idan David

Police have opened an inquiry against Ayalon Highways chairman Idan David, on suspicion of forgery and additional offenses, following an investigation by Channel 12's "The Inspector." Meanwhile, David has been summoned for a clarification hearing at the Government Companies Authority, where he was required to explain discrepancies between details he presented during his appointment and the investigation's findings, including data on his role at Megdalit and the activities of GROUP IDY.

Police announced today (Friday) that Commissioner Boaz Blet ordered an inquiry against Ayalon Highways chairman Idan David, on suspicion of forgery and additional offenses. The inquiry follows an investigation by Channel 12's "The Inspector," broadcast last Wednesday, which revealed alleged significant discrepancies between details David presented during his appointment process and findings uncovered by Channel 12's probe. Concurrently, David was summoned for a clarification hearing at the Government Companies Authority. The authority demands he submit a full written response, backed by a signed affidavit before a lawyer, by Tuesday at 6:00 PM. The clarification focuses on data David presented about his work at Megdalit, where he stated he served as VP at a company with revenues of about 800 million shekels and over 400 employees. Documents submitted to the authority during the investigation indicated significantly lower figures. The accountant whose name and signature appeared on one of the approvals told the authority he did not grant that approval. Former Megdalit CEO Sasson Rabia also denied in the investigation that David actually served as VP. The authority also demands David provide evidence for the activities of GROUP IDY, which he stated employs about 320 employees with revenues of 2.1 billion shekels and a balance of 4.8 billion. The clarification letter states "there is concern that you provided the committee and the authority with inaccurate details," and that providing inaccurate details in a questionnaire could constitute grounds for non-appointment. The authority added that in appropriate cases, opening criminal proceedings will be considered, and that David's appointment approval can be revoked and his tenure terminated.
