Military commentator Alon Ben-David, in an op-ed for Maariv, linked the recent incident involving a FlyDubai flight to systemic problems in Benjamin Netanyahu's government caused by political appointments. The main criticism is directed at Transport Minister Miri Regev, whose ministry, according to the author, failed to ensure proper security oversight of foreign flights. Ben-David claims that the Shin Bet and the National Security Council repeatedly warned of shortcomings, but Regev opposed transferring powers to the Civil Aviation Authority, and Netanyahu backed her. The journalist also recalled the 2021 Mount Meron disaster, where the commission's conclusions led to no changes, and noted that the prime minister did not take direct responsibility for the events of 7 October 2023. Ben-David stresses that the FlyDubai incident must be investigated as if it had ended in a disaster, in order to establish who was responsible at every stage.
