The US Embassy in Jerusalem issued a security alert for American citizens in the Middle East, calling for heightened vigilance due to the "complex security environment." The warning includes the possibility of flight cancellations, airspace closures, and travel disruptions, against the backdrop of Houthi hostilities against Saudi Arabia and potential escalation with Iran.

The US Embassy in Jerusalem issued a rare security alert this evening (Thursday) for American citizens in the Middle East, calling for heightened vigilance due to the "complex security environment." The warning explicitly mentions the possibility of flight cancellations, airspace closures, and travel disruptions. The statement noted that Iran-backed Houthis have carried out hostile acts against Saudi Arabia, including attacks on civilian airports and critical infrastructure that caused civilian casualties, and that these hostilities have the potential to escalate quickly. The embassy warned that Iran and its supporting organizations could harm American interests and sites identified with the US and its citizens worldwide. Consular departments at the embassy in Jerusalem and its branch in Tel Aviv continue to operate as usual. Citizens were urged to follow official instructions, avoid protests and large gatherings, know the location of the nearest shelter, and stay updated on flight status. Meanwhile, reports emerged of the deployment of approximately 8,000 Pakistani soldiers in Saudi Arabia, and contacts between Saudi Arabia and Syria regarding the sending of tens of thousands of Syrian soldiers to Yemen as part of the campaign against the Houthis.
