Police Commissioner, Chief Superintendent Danny Levy, is expected to meet today (Wednesday) with the police legal advisor, Superintendent Eran Nahon, to examine legal steps to transfer a budget of approximately 333 million shekels that the Minister of National Security, Itamar Ben Gvir, refuses to transfer to the organization. The budgetary conflict is escalating against the backdrop of a parallel dispute over senior officer appointments. Last week, Levy and the command staff appointed 50 officers to the rank of deputy superintendent, but Ben Gvir announced he would refuse to sign off on the appointments until after the elections, so the officers cannot assume their positions. Two days ago, it was revealed on i24NEWS that Levy intends to escalate the crisis and hold another placement discussion. The legal advisor of the National Security Ministry, attorney Ariel Sizel, contacted the commissioner demanding a halt to the planned round of appointments for Thursday. Meanwhile, Ben Gvir claimed in an interview that the Shin Bet is producing results in dealing with crime, but the police rejected the statements and claimed that the achievements belong to the police.
