Fifth Beit Halochem inaugurated in Ashdod: Will provide care for 10,000 wounded IDF and security forces veterans

The fifth Beit Halochem center of the IDF Disabled Veterans Organization was inaugurated in Ashdod at a ceremony attended by President Herzog and Defense Minister Katz. The center will include the largest national center in Israel for treating post-trauma and will provide rehabilitation services to approximately 10,000 wounded veterans in the Shfela district.

The fifth Beit Halochem center of the IDF Disabled Veterans Organization was inaugurated yesterday (Thursday) in Ashdod, in an official ceremony attended by President Isaac Herzog and Defense Minister Israel Katz. The center, named after the late Rabbi Yechiel Eckstein, founder of the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews, began operating in recent months and will provide rehabilitation services to approximately 10,000 recognized wounded veterans of the IDF and security forces in the Shfela district. The complex houses the largest national center in Israel for treating post-trauma, alongside physical, social, and community rehabilitation services, including a maritime sports center. More than 3,000 of the wounded who will receive care there are coping with post-trauma. The Beit Halochem in Ashdod joins centers in Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, Haifa, and Beersheba. Chairman of the IDF Disabled Veterans Organization, Attorney Idan Kaliman, said at the ceremony that rehabilitation is a journey of years and sometimes a lifetime, and that the families of the wounded also need support. President Herzog said: "We can never repay our deep debt to you or your families. But here today, we offer our truest and deepest support." Defense Minister Katz added that the past three years have deepened the national commitment to the wounded.
