The family of Captain Eliav Chaim Tzaplamos, who was killed about two and a half weeks ago in a military vehicle rollover in southern Lebanon, requested to speak with IDF Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir about the circumstances of his death, but were denied. The Chief of Staff did not contact them by phone, did not come to console them, and did not even send a letter during the shiva. This comes against the backdrop of the demand by Eliav's parents, Hali and Benny Tzaplamos, to receive answers from the IDF about the circumstances of the accident. The parents allege a series of failures: an unauthorized administrative trip, a single Humvee traveling in Lebanese territory, and a delay in rescue after the accident. Captain Tzaplamos, 21, from Haifa, served as a combat officer in Battalion 603 of the 7th Brigade and was killed on October 8. In an interview with Channel 14, mother Hali said she does not know if her son died at the scene. Father Benny claimed the vehicle went on the trip without authorization and that the rescue time was prolonged, raising questions about command responsibility. The article does not include a response from the IDF or the Chief of Staff to the claims.
