Maor Shlomo's partners in founding Explorium, Omer Har and Or Tamir, announced the closure of the startup the three founded nine years ago. Over 70 employees are expected to receive layoff notices. The company, which had nearly faded from public awareness, reached a peak valuation of $513 million during the height of the COVID bubble, with Shlomo raising over $120 million from venture capital funds such as Insight Partners and Zeev Ventures. In 2020, Explorium ranked fifth on Globes' list of the ten most promising startups. In July 2023, Har was appointed CEO in place of Shlomo, who left to establish Base44, which was acquired by WIX. The announcement was made in a LinkedIn post.
