Ex-NSA head names who is responsible for the Flydubai failure

Former head of Israel's National Security Council (NSC) Eyal Hulata criticized the investigation initiated by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu following the incident with the airline Flydubai. Former head of Israel's National Security Council (NSC) Eyal Hulata criticized the investigation initiated by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu following the incident with the airline Flydubai. In Hulata's view, such an investigation should not be limited to the actions of individual agencies, as ultimate responsibility for the functioning of the state system lies with the head of government. Hulata believes that this way, responsibility for decisions is effectively transferred from the prime minister and the NSC itself to a separate investigation. The former agency head called the process an "empty ritual" and stated that it is necessary to examine not only the actions of relevant bodies but also the decision-making process itself. According to Hulata, the problems with ensuring the security of foreign airlines were systemic. He noted that the NSC had warned in 2024 and 2025 of possible failures in the work of agencies responsible for the security of such flights. Specifically, he mentioned the Ministry of Transport and, presumably, the Israel General Security Service (Shin Bet). Hulata emphasized that ultimate responsibility in such a situation lies with the prime minister. "The prime minister bears responsibility," he stated.
