The European Broadcasting Union announced that 36 countries will participate in Eurovision 2027, to be held in Burgas, Bulgaria in May. This is an increase of one country compared to last year, after Canada joins for the first time and North Macedonia returns to the competition. The Czech Republic withdrew due to budget cuts at the public broadcaster. The five countries that boycotted the competition last year continue to boycott: Ireland, Iceland, and the Netherlands declared they will not participate, while Spain, Slovenia, and Hungary have not yet decided. The Dutch broadcaster NPO initially confirmed participation but reversed course following pressure from employees and television networks opposed to participating alongside Israel. The competition will be broadcast in full in the Netherlands.
