Eretz Nehederet returns with sharp election satire, Sydney Sweeney, flydubai spoof

Eretz Nehederet returns to Keshet 12 ahead of the October 27 elections with sketches targeting Netanyahu, Eisenkot, and Miri Regev, alongside a parody of Sydney Sweeney's rumored conversion and a flydubai hijacking spoof.

Eretz Nehederet, Israel's popular sketch comedy show on N12, returned from hiatus on October 14, 2026, just ahead of the October 27 elections. The episode opened with a pointed parody of Christopher Nolan's 'The Odyssey,' depicting a beleaguered reserve-duty soldier after 500 days of service, struggling to remember home and encountering Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as Apollo. The sketch highlighted the soldier's confusion about the war's duration and the burden on reservists and their families. The show also featured a parody of Hollywood star Sydney Sweeney, played by Mishel Pru, singing 'Ha Tikvah' amid rumors of her conversion to Judaism to marry music manager Scooter Braun. The sketch mocked her recent commercial for Novig and included a joke about a new campaign for the grocery chain Rami Levy. A spoof of the flydubai attempted hijacking was presented as a 'Fauda' parody, with Lior Raz playing passenger Yaniv Hayoun, a plumber who helped foil the hijacking. Political satire targeted Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Yashar Party leader Gadi Eisenkot, and Transportation Minister Miri Regev, with jokes about ignored warnings before the October 7 attack and Regev's handling of foreign pilots. The show's framing relies on satirical exaggeration and topical humor, characteristic of the genre.
