The head of the Security Division at the Transportation Ministry, Avri Cohen, worked for 8 years in a second job as a "reserve security officer" without approval from the Civil Service Commission. The ministry initially stated that it had received approval from the ministry's management at the time, but later admitted that approval was never given. Cohen, who is at the center of the Fly Dubai flight fiasco, was required to stop the second job immediately upon the ministry's knowledge.

The head of the Security Division at the Transportation Ministry, Avri Cohen, worked for 8 years in a second job as a "reserve security officer" — responsible for security at one of the airports abroad on behalf of Israeli airlines — without approval from the Civil Service Commission. Cohen, who is at the center of the Fly Dubai flight fiasco, allegedly received approval from the ministry's director general in 2018, but the Civil Service Commission never granted such approval. Yesterday the ministry stated that Cohen had received approval from the ministry's management at the time, but today it admitted that approval was never given. Upon learning of the matter several months ago, the ministry ordered him to stop the second job in the Ofek aviation security system. The Civil Service Commission stated that the employee did not apply for approval and that no such approval was given. The affair raises questions about oversight of senior public officials.
