Yashar! party chairman Gadi Eisenkot revealed in an interview that Prime Minister Netanyahu offered him, through Yaakov Bardugo, to move to Likud and run for the position of defense minister. Eisenkot rejected the offer. In the interview he also spoke about his part in the war cabinet and about setting the return of the hostages as a war goal, and about his opposition to including Ra'am in a government headed by him.

Yashar! party chairman Gadi Eisenkot was interviewed this evening (Friday) on the i24NEWS program "Sofshavua" and revealed that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu offered him to move to the Likud party. The offer was conveyed through Yaakov Bardugo, who is placed 11th on the Likud list for the upcoming elections. Eisenkot said that Netanyahu offered him to be a candidate for the position of defense minister under Likud, an offer he rejected. In the interview Eisenkot also spoke about his part as a member of the war cabinet after October 7, and said that it was he who set the return of the hostages as one of the war's goals. In addition, he addressed the possibility of forming a government with the Arab parties, and determined that Ra'am does not accept his principles and therefore will not be part of a government headed by him.
