Former Palestinian minister Sufian Abu Zayda, known as "Einy Paham," revealed for the first time a note dictated to him by Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar 22 days before the October 7, 2023 attack. The note, presented in a documentary on the "Al-Rad" channel, carried the message: "Before the end of September, we will lay the cards on the table. An earthquake will occur regarding the negotiations, and they (the Israelis) must prepare to empty the prisons." Abu Zayda conveyed the message to Israel in Hebrew and Arabic. The information is identical to Ronen Bergman's exposé in ynet and Yedioth Ahronoth about classified information that reached Israel in mid-September 2023, according to which Sinwar said that "by the end of September, Hamas will present something that will cause an earthquake and the release of all prisoners." The meeting took place on September 14, 2023. Abu Zayda was part of a back channel that managed contacts between Hamas and Israel to promote a prisoner exchange deal, which began operating in March 2022. According to him, immediately after the meeting he conveyed the message to Israeli officials, and the next morning he met in Ashkelon with the commander of the Southern Command, Oskar, and with the head of the negotiation team, Adi Roth. He later also met with Shin Bet chief Ronen Bar. Abu Zayda said that to this day the question remains what exactly Sinwar meant, since in the end the cards were not placed on the negotiating table but on the war table.
