Haredi protesters blocked Highway 4 near the Kfar Saba police station in both directions today (Wednesday). The police stated that the protest is illegal and that officers are working to reopen the road and redirect traffic to alternative routes. Drivers are advised to avoid the area and stay updated on traffic changes. Earlier today, 42 young Chabad members were arrested at Ben Gurion Airport for desertion from military service. 27 of them expressed willingness to enlist, were found fit for service, and were given suspended sentences. 13 others initially stated they were unwilling to cooperate, but hours later signed a declaration of willingness to enlist. Two others were sent to detention after evading service for over 540 days. The arrests occurred upon their return from a study year at the central Chabad center in New York. The IDF knew in advance of their landing time and waited for them with reinforced forces.
