A rock surface in Iran, on which tracks suspected to be dinosaur footprints were identified, is generating interest among researchers. Its exact location is being kept secret for fear that visitors or fossil collectors might damage the findings. The researcher who revealed the discovery clarified that the scientific study at the site has not yet been completed. Further details are expected to be published after the completion of tests and the publication of a peer-reviewed study. According to reports in Iranian media, the initial announcement was made on the social network X and later also distributed by the ISNA news agency. The researcher noted that other sites in Iran where dinosaur tracks were found have been damaged in the past, and in some cases footprints were broken with hammers and picks. The team plans to make several visits to the site, map the rock surface, search for additional tracks, and document them using photogrammetry and silicone molds. After data collection, the shape of the tracks, their number, their arrangement in walking paths, and the movement patterns they may reflect will be examined.
