Directors of the film NAZA will face severe punishment - assessment

Israel's Population and Immigration Authority has launched an investigation into the directors of the film NAZA, Yuval Abraham and Rachel Shor, at the behest of Culture Minister Miki Zohar. The possibility of revoking their citizenship on charges of aiding the enemy during wartime is being considered. A decision has not yet been made; lawyers are assessing the legal grounds.

Israel's Population and Immigration Authority has initiated an official investigation into documentary filmmakers Yuval Abraham and Rachel Shor, the creators of the film NAZA. The investigation was launched at the behest of Minister of Culture and Sports Miki Zohar, who previously stated that the film's content and the circumstances of its creation may indicate a breach of loyalty to the state or collaboration with hostile forces. The authority's director general, Boaz Yosef, announced the start of a procedure that could lead to the revocation of citizenship if the filmmakers' actions fall under the legal norms regarding aiding the enemy during wartime. A decision on revoking citizenship has not yet been made: lawyers must determine whether sufficient legal grounds exist. Simultaneously, Zohar approached the leadership of the Shin Bet with a request to investigate the circumstances of the film's creation and the origin of its materials. Revoking citizenship in Israel is an exceptional measure requiring convincing evidence, the approval of the Attorney General and the Minister of Interior, as well as a decision by a district court. It was previously reported that Hamas terrorists used the film NAZA in their international campaign against Israel.
