Denmark to purchase long-range air and ground precision missiles

Denmark announced it will purchase long-range precision missiles, including Kongsberg's Joint Strike Missiles for its F-35 jets and Covenant's Anthem ground-launched missile, to strengthen NATO deterrence amid Russian hostile actions. The Danish Defense Ministry said the weapons can deter attacks and strike deep into enemy territory. The Russian embassy in Copenhagen warned of disastrous consequences. The JSM has a 350 km range and autonomous target recognition, while Covenant's Anthem uses commercial components for rapid production. Defense Minister Jeppe Bruus called the purchase a significant step for defense and NATO.

Denmark has announced it will purchase its first long-range precision missiles, including air-launched Joint Strike Missiles (JSM) from Norway's Kongsberg for its F-35 stealth fighters and the ground-launched Anthem missile from Covenant. The Danish Defense Ministry said the acquisitions are intended to strengthen national and collective NATO deterrence, noting the weapons can deter attacks and strike deep inside enemy territory. The JSM is a fifth-generation air-to-surface missile with a 350 km range and autonomous target recognition, already in use by 15 countries including the US and Germany. Covenant, which has operations in the US, Germany, and Israel, emerged from stealth last month; its Anthem missile uses commercial-off-the-shelf components for rapid production. Denmark's Defense Minister Jeppe Bruus called the purchase a significant step for defense and NATO. The announcement follows Denmark's 58 billion Danish crown air defense purchase last year. The Russian embassy in Copenhagen warned of inevitable disastrous consequences, accusing Denmark of pursuing confrontation with Moscow.
