Cyprus will purchase ships and weapons systems from Israel for approximately €150 million. The deal is being prepared by Israel Shipyards and RAFAEL, with signing expected in the coming weeks. Details have already been coordinated between the defense ministries of the two countries, reports Calcalist on Tuesday, October 20. Under the terms of the deal, Israel Shipyards will build ships for the Cypriot Navy equipped with RAFAEL weapons systems. The companies have previously cooperated on arms supplies to Cyprus and other states. Less than ten years ago, Israel Shipyards delivered a patrol vessel to Cyprus to protect its exclusive economic zone. The new deal is being prepared in a government-to-government (G2G) format. Israel aims to strengthen defense, political, and economic ties with Cyprus, as well as trilateral cooperation between Israel, Cyprus, and Greece. This comes amid Turkey's attempts to use the prolonged war in the Middle East to increase its influence in the region.
